Helpful Literature to Read Before You Move

Below are links to sites that provide helpful literature for those who are planning to move. If you visit one of these sites, click your back button to return to this site.

When you're moving within New York State, read the New York State Department of Transportation's Consumer Tips. You should also read a booklet titled Summary of Information for Shippers of Household Goods, prepared by the New York State Department of Transportation and which your mover is required by law to provide to you.

If you are making an interstate move, you should read the The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's Your Rights & Responsibilities When You Move. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration also provides valuable information for interstate moves in What Happens When You Move?

No matter where you are moving, we can mail to you several brochures published by the Long Island Moving & Storage Association that you will find helpful. Write or call us for any of the following  brochures:

● How to Find a Mover You Can Trust
● Ten Important Questions to Ask Before Moving
● Avoid the Nightmares of Do-It-Yourself Moving
